It is the country’s biggest national park ( 306.000 hectares). Located in the department of Boyacá, its extension goes from the “piedemonte llanero” ( a piedmont at the valley) to the high white snow mountain tops ( which range from 5000 to 5400 meters/16.400 to 17.700 feet above sea level). The length of the mountain range amounts to 30 km and there are more than 22 snow peaks like Ritacuba Blanco (5330m / 17.490 feet), the Pulpito del Diablo (4900 m / 16.070 feet above sea level), the Lagoon de la Plaza, Pico El Castillo, Laguna Grande de la Sierra, Laguna Grande de los Verdes, Laguna del Avellanal, el Valle de los cojines and other peaks without name. It is a unique site in our country where one can practice “Big Wall”, technical climbing, or 2-3 day trekking around any of its lagoons.

Day 1 Bogota – Cocuy, transfer with public transport (bus-12 hours), accomodation in Cocuy (aprox. 3000m/9842ft above sea level) in hostal/shared room.
Day 2 Trekking from Cocuy the refugio de los herrera (blacksmith refuge), duration 2 hours (aprox. 4000 m/13123ft above sea level), afterwards rest and set up of the camp, overnight stay in tents
Day 3 Trekking with mules from the refuge to the base camp hotelito (4300m/14107ft above sea level), overnight stay in tents
Day 4 Trekking and approach to the glacier, visito of the “El Púlpito del Diablo” mountain.(aprox. 5100m/16732ft above sea level), possibility to practise rock climbing, overnight stay in the hotelito base camp.
Day 5 Assault to the summit of the Pan de Azúcar (5250m/17224ft above sea level), technical progression on the glacier, overnight stay in the hotelito base camp.
Day 6 Morning at free disposal. 4 hours trekking back to Cocuy. Accomodation in Cocuy in hostal with shared rooms.
Day 7 Cocuy – Bogota, transfer with public transport (bus-12 hours)

Tour description.
Day 1 Bogota – Guicán - Kanwara, early in the morning transfer with public transport (bus-12hours), accomodation in refuge shared holiday huts (aprox. 4000 m/ above sea level)
Day 2 Trekking and approach to the Rita´k Uwa glaciar. Great view on the summits espectacular (aprox. 4800m/14748ft above sea level), 6 hours duration. Return to Kanwara – Guicán, overnight stay in hostal (single and doble accomodation)
Day 3 Return Kanwara -Guicán – Bogota with public bus.
End of the trip.
